We have trained many handlers to show sporthorses for the warmblood inspections and for showing inhand and showmanship classes. In addition to regular scheduled lessons, a clinic is offered every year before the local AWS inspection.
Children as young as four benefit from riding instruction in a safe environment. Emphasis is on safety and teaching the child to handle the horse and be in charge of the horse and the learning. Riding/driving skills, plus the bones and parts of the horse and tack are part of a regular lesson.
Some students pursue jumping and are taught the basics of jumping and huntseat equitation. Clinics are held on a regular schedule for the more advanced students.
Other students pursue dressage. We teach all equtation classes from a dressage perspective and dressage as a discipline through training level. Once each month our outside clinician, Michelle Binder, comes from Spokane. Working with her and the farm's instructor is a great benefit to the serious student.
Driving is a lifelong persuit of Michael Wakefield, instructor. All phases of driving are taught in an individual one-on-one setting. Often the student brings an untrained horse and is guided weekly on preparring the horse to drive. Meanwhile, driving the school horses, prepares the student for the time his/her horse is ready to be hitched/shown. Single and multiple hitch lessons are available. More advanced students learn conditioning, performance enhancement, The CDE, carriage driving for the street and multiple hitches (four-in-hand).
